LOTTO and Powerball are two of the most popular lotteries in South Africa. This is why the First National Bank (FNB) launched a new service in 2009 whereas account holders can play the lottery using the electronic channels of the bank.
Ever since it was introduced, FNB has produced over R145 million payouts. If you are wondering how you will get notified by FNB if you win in 4D result, here is how it goes.
A convenient method to play lottery
FNB was the first bank to collaborate with Gidani which made this service possible. Gidani, the national lottery operator in South Africa holds 80% of the virtual channel revenues. The sales of the LOTTO and Powerball tickets on the electronic channels of FNB has produced 2.5 million rewards.
“The influence of playing the aforementioned lottery games on the banking channels of FNB can be attributed to the accessibility and comfort that it provides to the patrons. Players can place their bets anywhere without having to visit an outlet or stand in waiting lines,” said Ravesh Ramlakan, CEO of FNB Service Provider.
“The recently launched service has changed the way we place our bets in the game of Singapore lottery. The virtual channels are the result of the effective partnership between Gidani and FNB to provide players a whole new playing experience and convenience that they deserve. This channel is currently the pioneer in the industry, resulting in the 80% of the sales of the virtual channels,” Duduzile Ndendwa, Commercial Division Executive at Gidani.
How to claim your winnings?
For prizes below R50,000, the money will be automatically transferred to the bank account of the customer and they will be notified using inContact, the free text service of FNB. The customers will receive an SMS message about the winning and the money will be sent within seven working days.
Meanwhile, for prizes above R50,000, the customer will be contacted directly by a FNB customer service staff. The winners of 4D must present a proof of identity to Gidani before FNB can deposit the prizes to their bank accounts.
Winners must claim their prize in person within seven working days. They must fill an official Prize Claim Form and must present any proof of identity, bank statements and the ticket with a reference number to get the prize.
An increasing amount of individuals utilizing the platform
Nowadays, over 330,000 clients of FNB have been using the service to play Lotto and Powerball. According to the study conducted by FNB, 67% of the service users are male, while 48% of customers have ages ranging from 35 to 54.
The most prominent channel is Online Banking yielding a percentage of 64% of the clients who play using the FNB service, the second is Mobile Banking with 32%.
“The surge in the proportion of people using this widely accessible service to engage in Powerball and 4D online has been astounding. We noticed a huge stream of customers using the service whenever there is a huge Lotto jackpot prize at stake,” Ramlakan added.
Currently, Powerball and Lotto are available on the three channels of FNB, Online Banking, Mobile Banking, and ATM Banking.
FNB clients can use their previously selected numbers and re-enter them in the draws of Lotto and Powerball. There is also an option where customers can choose the times their ticket can be replayed. They can also check the history of the numbers they selected and utilize eBucks to buy tickets.
