The 6Cs of Character Education are citizenship, culture, community, character, and competence. They are the foundation for any school program and are important in our everyday lives. As educators, we need to learn how to incorporate these important elements in our curriculums to ensure our students’ educational success. This is also the foundation for preparing our students for the future.
Character education
Character education is a term which is being used by a number of education systems to help educate students. There are a number of different qualities that character education can teach. They include emotional, intellectual, moral, and social skills. The goal is to teach students to make positive social choices and habits of thought.
In order to make the process of character education more successful, teachers must be able to effectively incorporate these 4Cs into their lessons. A good way to do this is to create a task which allows students to develop their responsibility and caring. Developing student leadership is also an essential part of character education.
Another method of teaching the 6 Cs is to use fairy tales. These stories can be used to teach moral lessons and allow students to understand how they can apply their knowledge of apology expressions and other ethical behaviors.
Teachers can also ask their students about the 4Cs when reviewing their work. This can be an effective way to ensure that all students have mastered their core content.
Citizenship
It may not be surprising that digital and social media technologies are a major player in the classroom. However, when it comes to teaching the next generation how to use, manage and maintain these ubiquitous tools, it can be tough to keep the students focused on the task at hand. Fortunately, there are numerous strategies that can help keep the kids on the right track. From incorporating the right technology to providing a conducive environment, you can rest easy knowing that the kids are having fun while learning.
One such strategy is to provide a digital citizenship education program for both teachers and students. This includes teaching the perks of social media, allowing students to use the technology to its fullest and offering guidance to educators on how best to engage in this nirvana. To get the ball rolling, start by introducing the concept of online privacy in your classroom. There are many ways to do this, from securing student laptops with a password lock to creating a private Facebook group for students to discuss in confidence.
Culture
The 4Cs is a term used to describe four distinct cultural elements, which can include beliefs, values, traditions and customs. These cultural elements are often visible, such as dress or architectural styles, but can also include more intangible elements, such as emotions, values or beliefs.
The 4Cs project is an EU funded initiative, which promotes the use of art and culture in cross-cultural collaboration and conflict resolution. This includes creating workshops, workshops for educators, workshops on creative education and workshops for artists. It also supports Diamond 4 C charts community members as cultural agents and responds to the challenges of migration, security and freedom of expression. During the last few years, the project has hosted exhibitions, conferences, artist-in-residence programs and mediation labs.
Conclusion
In the UK, the project is currently hosting Noor Abuarafeh as an Artist-in-Residence. She is working with local artists, youth groups, the Gasworks Gallery and Tate Britain. She has also produced an art book titled Rumours Began Sometime.
